WM-EX2

Long Battery Life
WM-EX2

The WM-EX2 is an entry-level EX-series Walkman from 1995 that carries forward the compact upright design language of the earlier EX1 while simplifying the package into a more affordable everyday player. It added Dolby B noise reduction to the basic platform while keeping auto-reverse, automatic tape selection, Extended Dynamic Bass Boost, AVLS, and basic AMS track skipping inside a compact metal body with logic-controlled buttons and a clear cassette window. Power could come from either a gumstick rechargeable cell or a detachable AA sidecar, giving it better runtime flexibility than its modest positioning might suggest.

This model shows Sony bringing once-premium cassette habits down into the ordinary middle of the range. The EX2 was not built to be flashy or experimental, but to make the late Walkman experience feel dependable and complete without asking buyers to pay for deluxe finishes or more specialized functions. It is a very clean, very practical version of what the EX line had become.
