WM-25

WM-25

The WM-25 is an entry-level playback Walkman that improved the lower end of the lineup by adding Dolby B noise reduction to a basic two-AA design. It keeps the standard manual tape-type selector, automatic shut-off, compact plastic shell, and simple control layout intact, but the addition of Dolby gives prerecorded tapes a cleaner, less hiss-prone presentation without changing the player's overall straightforward feel. It remains very easy to operate.

More revealing is the habit of improving the everyday instead of reinventing it. By 1986, the lower end was already being refined in compact but meaningful ways to keep the Walkman competitive and satisfying even outside the premium tier.
