D-275

D-275

The D-275 is part of the last mainstream Discman wave, combining ESP buffering, Mega Bass, and practical battery operation in a compact body built around ordinary daily use. It did not chase anything especially ambitious, but by 1997 the core formula had already been refined enough that a machine like this could feel complete without needing much decoration.

That settled quality is really what defines it. The D-275 is part of the point when Sony had largely mastered this class of player and no longer needed to keep proving it could make portable CD work. The machine just gets on with the job.
