D-345

The D-345 built on the D-340 foundation by adding ESP buffering while keeping the same compact form and general layout, so the memory system changed everyday use much more than the exterior suggested. It still looked like a familiar mid-range Discman, but behaved in a noticeably more forgiving way once it left the desk.

That kind of upgrade mattered more than it sounds on paper. The D-345 is part of the stage where a single added feature could move a machine into a much more usable category without requiring a complete redesign. A lot of mid-1990s Discman evolution happened exactly like this.
